Would’ve done well to bring in some ‘profen today

Sick. Allergies, lack of sleep, or swine flu, I’m not sure.

Today we had a Community Relations monthly meeting in which members of CR and Development shared updates and news items. There were donuts from Round Rock, I think the place is called Independence Donuts. They’re all hand-rolled. Pretty delicious, even though I don’t really like sweets.

I created a couple of new prospect reports today. I’d like to continue to explore the nutrition education angle when prospecting donors. My meeting with Adrienne Lowenstein was postponed ’til after Wednesday when Development meets with Gil the Consultant. I get to sit in. I also talked to Emily Babb about painting a mural on the south side of the building in front of the community garden. Unfortunately, it can’t be done because there is apparently a coat of graffiti-proof paint on the side of the building. Nonetheless she asked if I wanted to participate in future community garden (read: CAFB Teaching Garden) meetings. To this I affirmed.

The highlight of the day, however, was meeting with Adrienne Longenecker. Initially I only wanted to stop by and grab a copy of the CAFB 2006-2010 strategic plan. However I ended up having a half hour conversation with her about my goals and being a VISTA here. She is a very cool woman. She also told me about Gus Fruth Park and the Green Belt. I’m going to check it out on Saturday or Sunday if I don’t come down with either swine flu or the HIV before then. Oh yeah, I also signed up volunteer for Stamp Out Hunger on Saturday from 5-7:30p. Word.
