Weekend!

Friday, May 8th, 2009

I was sick yesterday. Real sick, actually. Had I gone home early from work on Wednesday then I might’ve avoided that whole deal. Awful.

I began today by completing two new foundation prospect reports. One of them, the Alice Kleberg Reynolds Foundation, seems like a good fit for the CHOICES nutrition education program. I’ll be discussing this more with Paul next week. June 15 is the date that they begin accepting grant applications again.

I got a chance to look at the departmental budget and noticed that Kids Cafe seems to be underfunded thus far this year. Perhaps next week I’ll focus on more sources of funding for this program, which provides free lunch for children in underserved school districts.

Additionally, I researched a $500 Quaker Oats Go Grant for the purpose of funding the CAFB Teaching Garden. Deadlines for submitting a 150 word essay are May 31, June 30, and July 31. Maybe my first chance to write a grant proposal.

Next week I need to remember to bring my green HEB bag so that I can take home some free food on Friday afternoon.

That’s all for now. I wonder what I’m going to do this weekend..hopefully rest and get healthy..I wish I had some friends here in Austin.
